Updates from Powys
Here’s what our Powys Cancer Champion Coordinator, Helen Davies has been up to recently…
- Helen visited Newtown Knit and Natter to have a chat and collect the large knitted breasts that the group have been busy making. They will be used as an awareness raising tool and also make an appearance at Lingen Davies’ Titty Trail this October.
- Helen has also been promoting the Cancer Champion initiative at Welshpool Visual Impairment group, Tregynon WI and Foster Wales Powys group in Crossgates, which has provided some useful insights.
- Fifteen Sidoli’s staff have been trained as Cancer Champions!
- The first open training session in Machynlleth was completed and we hope to visit again in the near future.
- Miranda and Helen joined Lingen Davies’ colleagues for a morning at Powis Castle to celebrate the charity’s 45th birthday.
- We’ve recently trained a group of high school teachers as Cancer Champions, as part of a school cancer awareness initiative in Mid and South Powys.
- Finally, Helen gave a presentation about the Cancer Champions initiative to the Adult Services Senior Management Team at Powys County Council , which was well received and we hope further collaboration will follow.
