Cancer Champions Christmas Celebration

Over 25 Cancer Champions from across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Powys, joined us on Thursday 5th December at The Barnabas Centre in Shrewsbury for our Cancer Champion Christmas Celebration.

Miranda Ashwell, LiveLife Lead, gave an informative presentation about the naked mole rat and how it may improve our understanding of cancer.

‘Understanding how these remarkable animals are almost completely immune to cancer could improve our understanding of the early stages of the disease in people and lead to new ways to prevent or better treat it’. CRUK

The celebration was an excellent opportunity to share an overview of the year’s activities in the three regions as well as make plans for 2025. The group also shared their ideas for improving and developing the Cancer Champion initiative.

The festivities were rounded off with a musical performance by Cancer Champion Nigel and Shropshire Cancer Champion Coordinator Rebecca, while the group enjoyed tea and cake.
